ABSTRACTS
I. History and generalities
An account of the geographical position of El Raposo’Spa is given. Including a brief history
of it and its situation nowadays. A particularly reference it is made about their proprietaries
and the first chemical composition of the mineralmedicinal waters of this spa and about the
notices in relationship the date in which it was open (1926) and another ones in relationship
the medically effects of the waters and muthbath.
II. Physico-chemical analysis
This work considers the physico-chemical analysis of the waters from El Raposo. The
historic old data are mentioned. The results obtained applying modern methods are
commented in comparison to the values obtained by other authors. The samples analysed
corresponded to those taken directly in the natural source of the water. According to the
chemical and physical composition found in the samples, the minero-medicinal waters of El
Raposo are hipotermales, having media mineralization values and a high content of
bicarbonates and calcium.
III. Analysis of radioactivity
The CIEMAT Laboratory of Environmental Radioactivity carried out radioactivity analyses
of El Raposo Spa water. With this aim the most important natural radionuclides were
determined in water from spring water. The measurement and knowledge of radioactivity
level in water is an interesting and convenient topic. The consumption of water, which has
dissolved some radionuclides, could lead to internal irradiation both by ingestion and by
inhalation. Therefore it is necessary, in some cases, to determine the water radioactivity
level in order to assess the dose.
