classified as Typic xerorthent and Vertic xerochrept and the P-III Typic rhodolxeralf
developed from degraded limestone, which has occurred decarbonation with subsequent
washing and flushing clays.
VIII. Spa water and peloids. Therapeutic actions
An account of the beginning, evolution and the nowadays situation of the El Raposo Spa
are exposed. Main characteristics of peloids are indicated as well as its application
techniques, actions, indications and contraindications of the mud baths. A particular
reference is made to the first chemical analysis of the mineral waters of this spa and the
actual analysis which shows its composition, being hypothermal mineral water and presents
a mean level of mineralization, bicarbonates, chloride, calcium and sodium are the
predominant elements. A revision is made of the possible actions and indications according
to the administration way as well as its contraindications. The different used techniques are
specified. Supplied information concerning to number, sex and age of users as well as the
most frequent pathologies are shown in graphics.
Annex. Climatology of the El Raposo Resort
A bioclimatic study of the El Raposo Spa is described in this paper. The termometric and
pluviometric data corresponding to climatological station of Zafra, next to the Spa. It has
been calculated the effective temperature and through this the temperature – humidity index
and the comfort behaviour number. From these data a bioclimatic classification has been
proposed.
